Challenge: “A Tell-All Dream”

Help someone’s long-time dream come true – by launching a sports history book about the founding, struggles and success of the ABA Indiana Pacers.

Mission

Dick Tinkham, one of the original founders of the Indiana Pacers American Basketball Association team, had a dream to tell the story of how the ABA Pacers helped to build Indianapolis into the sports powerhouse it is today. McFarland had the great privilege of working with Dick, Pacer’s legend Bob Netolicky and sports journalist Robin Miller to launch their book We Changed the Game. The launch campaign leveraged targeted social media, media relations with sports journalists and podcast programs, a heavy web sales presence, author-marketing platforms, sports memorabilia and book-signing events.

Result

The launch campaign resulted in heavy book-signing event attendance, with fans lined up down the street and filling venues to near capacity. Additionally, the campaign landed a number of prominent media placements, including local and national sports podcasts, and drove weekly increases in social-media engagement.
